7-Eleven’s Chris Centra - Winner of AACS Peter Jowett Industry Award
Chris Centra, Category Business Analyst at 7-Eleven, Australia’s leading convenience retailer, was awarded the Peter Jowett Industry Award, presented by the Australian Association of Convenience Stores (AACS), at a gala dinner in Sydney last night.
Chris was recognised for his insight and strong business plan with solid ideas to generate greater sales, community profile and profits for convenience stores in the midst of the challenging conditions currently faced by the Australian retail industry.
As the winner of this award, Chris will represent Australia in the Global Convenience Industry Achievement Awards at The NACS Show in Chicago which is held from 1-4, October 2011.
Speaking about his win, Chris said, “It is a great honour to have won the award amongst other esteemed colleagues in the industry and I’m looking forward to representing 7-Eleven in Chicago.”
“Having been in the retail industry for more than 15 years, this award has reaffirmed my conviction and passion for the industry.
“I’d also like to acknowledge 7-Eleven for providing me with a great learning environment and personal growth opportunities for the past 13 years. The company has supported me every step of the way during my participation in this award and has been instrumental in shaping my achievement today.
“It’s awards like these and support from convenience leaders such as 7-Eleven that enable individuals like myself and other colleagues in the industry to stand back and recognise the important work that is being done to ensure the convenience industry continues to prosper in Australia.
“7-Eleven’s innovative culture and drive to be number one in the convenience industry has been a great influence on my career and I look forward to many more great years with the company”, Chris said.
7-Eleven CEO, Warren Wilmot said, “We are very proud of what Chris has achieved. He’s done a really good job of showcasing his knowledge and understanding of our customers and the industry.”
