Following its temporary closure due to damage from the recent flooding, 7-Eleven Maribyrnong at 32 Raleigh Road Maribyrnong will reopen with a temporary fitout to provide food, fuel and essentials to serve the community from 12pm on Friday 28 October.
According to Fiona Hayes, 7-Eleven General Manager - Channel, franchise owner Shino Jacob and his team will open in a temporary fit out as an interim measure.
“We know how important it is for locals to be able to access fuel, food and essentials easily, and to bring a bit of normality back as soon as possible, so we are really pleased to be in a position to open the store later today,” Ms Hayes said.
“Our first priority is of course the safety and wellbeing of our team and the community, so we supported Jacob and his team members in the initial days of the flood. Once the waters receded, we were able to get in to assess the safety of the site and begin the clean up immediately to put us in the best position to reopen as soon as possible.
“The damage to the store was significant in terms of the shop fit out, but our team have done an incredible job of finding a temporary solution, and getting the needed works done to enable Jacob and his team to reopen his store in just two weeks. Works are already underway on getting a brand new permanent store fitted out and ready to trade.
“We would also like to say a huge thank you to our partners at The Salvation Army Australia, emergency services, local government and others who worked tirelessly to respond to the flood and provide care and support to our team members alongside everyone in the community at the evacuation centre and elsewhere. Their work to ensure people had a safe refuge, meals, and access to the services they need, is truly extraordinary.”
